Kari is a strategic thought leader with substantial experience developing financial and patient care models that deliver high quality clinical health outcomes, care coordination, and economic savings for value-based population health programs. She cultivates strong relationships to create and implement effective strategies, achieving impressive operational outcomes. Kari focuses on financial integrity while developing sustainable financial systems and building best-of-class teams. Her extensive healthcare CFO experience is extremely valuable to the Force 10 team and our clients.
Most recently, Kari was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Phoenix Children’s, one of the nation’s largest pediatric health systems. During her three-year tenure, she helped to grow and expand the hospital into a health system, increasing net revenues to $1.3 billion, improving the balance sheet and cash position and achieving two bond rating upgrades over a two-year period, to AA- (Fitch) and A+ (S&P) and A1 (Moody’s).
Prior to joining Phoenix Children’s, Kari served for 22 years at Sharp Healthcare in San Diego. She was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at the Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus, where she was instrumental in growing the system into a 1,036-bed, $1.3 billion enterprise.
In 2021, Kari was selected as one of Arizona’s Most Influential Women. She has also been named to the list of Becker’s Hospital Review’s “150 Hospital and Health System CFOs to Know” and “130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know.”
Kari has been an active member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), serving at the local, regional and national levels. She served on the National HFMA Board of Directors and is a past national chair. In addition to her involvement in HFMA, Kari has served on Arizona’s American Heart Association “Go Red” Executive Committee, the California Hospital Association (CHA) Board of Directors and the Neighborhood Healthcare Board of Directors.
Kari earned a degree in Accounting from Weber State University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. She is also a fellow of HFMA and a graduate of CHA’s Health Care Leadership Program.
